What is a growth mindset? A growth mindset means you don’t see failure; you see opportunities to learn and know that you can learn new things, allowing you to further develop your abilities and grow in all ways, always. When you have this mindset in both your personal and professional life, your leadership skills, vision for the future, and ability to seamlessly glide and guide yourself and your team through challenges is exceptional. It is a not so secret superpower to accelerate success.

The effects of your ability to adopt this new way of thinking will span into all aspects of your life. When it comes to business, it will positively impact employee productivity, retention and morale, all interactions with customers, creation of new initiatives, the ability to launch and learn from new strategies and approaches, and can even increase your sales. When you have a growth mindset, you are able to objectively view obstacles to your goals and learn from them quickly and therefore adjust accordingly, helping you reach those goals faster. When it comes to sales particularly, you can easily pinpoint what is slowing the sales process down, whether from an operational perspective or from the customer experience side of things. When you truly realize that you can use every single experience as a learning opportunity and know your growth and abilities are limitless, the way you approach every situation will shift for the better, and you will feel empowered, competent, and confident that you will succeed. You will be able to see the short term and long term impacts of your decisions as you are clear on the vision and the growth trajectory you are on and understand the impact and importance of all that you are doing. 

Your Turn to Take Action

So how do you actually develop a growth mindset? It takes practice. The simplest thing you can start doing is every time challenges arise in your business, right before the fear tries to override your system, stop, take a deep breath and tell yourself that this is an exciting opportunity to learn and you would love guidance on how you can think through this differently and appreciate the opportunity to learn and discover what you are supposed to learn from this challenge. Even if you don’t believe in what you are saying at first, your words have power. The repetition of those words every time challenges arise have even more power. You start to create a new pattern and you will begin to see things differently. Slowly but surely, it will click, that everything that comes up is an opportunity to learn and grow and as long as you are learning, you are growing, and you are succeeding. Think about all you have even learned up until this point. All the knowledge you have now helps you every day navigate the ins and outs of your business and life. You didn’t always have all of the knowledge and information you have today. Learning is not a destination we should be chasing, it is a daily experience that we can choose to celebrate if we want to. 

Your mindset has been proven to shift your company’s growth, culture and experience. There is a reason why people even call it the psychology of sales. Thought processes affect the way we communicate, and when we communicate from a place of growth, from a place of confidence and competence in all of our abilities, with that excitement and enjoyment from every single opportunity to learn, we are more successful in our relationships with our team members and customers. This, at the basics, creates not just better productivity and retention, but happiness amongst employees and customers, turning everyone you and your business interact with into superfans.
